What each package covers
Silver images the brain, abdomen and pelvis. Gold adds the whole spine. In the North West, Platinum adds one further area of your choice; elsewhere in England, Platinum Cardiac adds a cardiac MRI instead.
In the North West, Gold and Platinum are carried out at our Preston (Fulwood) and Newton-le-Willows centres.
Before you book a screening scan
Detailed scans often show things that turn out to be harmless, such as small cysts or nodules. Some need follow-up, most do not. Your GP will explain what is worth acting on, but it is worth knowing before you book that a screening scan can lead to further tests.
A normal scan is reassuring but does not rule out every condition, and it is not a substitute for NHS screening programmes such as bowel, breast and cervical screening.
- Pre-scan telephone consultation with a GMC-registered GP
- The scan at a partner imaging centre
- Consultant radiologist report
- GP review of the report with a written summary
- A GP call if anything abnormal is found
A £25 booking fee secures your GP call and comes off the price.

How long does it take?
Between 45 and 90 minutes depending on the package.
Do I need a referral from my NHS GP?
No. Our GP provides the referral after your pre-scan call.
How quickly can I be scanned?
The imaging centre contacts you once we send the referral, usually within a few working days. Scans are not carried out on the day you book.
