A CT scan uses X-rays to build cross-sectional images. It is quick – usually a few minutes – and is particularly good for the chest, sinuses, abdomen and bony structures.
When this scan is used
- Chest
Persistent cough, breathlessness, smoking history. - Abdomen and pelvis
Abdominal pain, weight loss, follow-up of a known finding. - Sinuses or head
Chronic sinus symptoms. - Low-dose lung assessment
Lung health check for current or former smokers.
Your GP will confirm on the pre-scan call that this is the right scan for your symptoms. If something else would answer the question better, we change it before you pay the balance.

Choose your scan and centre. A £25 booking fee secures your GP call and comes off the price.

Speak to a GP
A GMC-registered GP phones you to check the scan is right for you and safe to go ahead.

Have your scan
We send the referral. The imaging centre contacts you to arrange a date — scans are not on the same day.

Get your results
A consultant radiologist reports the scan and your GP talks you through what it means.
